GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

GENERAL OVERSEERSHIP

iTestify! The General Overseer of The True Church of God WorldWide is Apostle E.C. Jibuike. The Deputy Gen. Overseer is Apostle D.F. Umoh. The G.O. and D.G.O. are charged with the task of administering the church. They consult with each other closely on all matters. They consult with appropriate officers of the church when necessary, and inform their supporting organs and aids of all decisions and guidelines that affect their operations.

REGISTERED TRUSTEES

Our current constitution vests legal responsibility for the custody of our church assets and protection of the constitution on FOUR PERSONS. These persons are called TRUSTEES and are signatories to property title deeds and other documents under the requirements of the Companies & Allied matters Act. When they meet as a Board, The General Secretary of the church will be in attendance “ex-officio” if he is not “per se” a Trustee. By an amendment to the constitution, two other persons specifically named joined the GO and DGO to make the Board. The present Board is made up of:

  • Apostle E.C. Jibuike (Gen. Overseer)
  • Apostle D.F Umoh     (Deputy Gen. Overseer)
  • Pastor S.B. Ulebor
  • Pastor S.J. Wilson

SPIRITUAL ADVISORY BOARD

This body is an enlargement of the Board of Trustees. In addition to the 4 trustees who have a legal standing, 6 other persons nominated from the spiritual ministry by the GO/DGO, join the trustees to create a Spiritual Advisory Board.

They deliberate and advise the General Overseer on spiritual ministry issues of the highest and most confidential nature. They discuss and advise on positional changes and doctrinal questions which the GO/DGO may place before them. They will meet as and when convened by the General Overseer, but ideally twice a year. The members are:-

  • Apostle E. C. Jibuike
  • Apostle D. F. Umoh
  • Pastor E. Nwaubani
  • Pastor S. B. Ulebor
  • Pastor F. J. Nkanang
  • Pastor S. C. Adiele (Gen. Sec.)
  • Pastor S. J. Wilson
  • Pastor L. D. A Udofia
  • Pastor J. U. Chukwu

AREA OVERSEERS COUNCIL (AOC)

Drastic changes in the grouping of our assemblies and in the names given them, were effected from 1st January 2004. There are now 12 Areas as at 1st July 2007.

These Areas plus the Cameroon and Ghana missions have their Overseers meeting at least twice a year under the name AREA OVERSEERS COUNCIL. The purpose is to brief and debrief them as to church administration locally, to co-ordinate their activities, to train and give them fresh charges, to discuss and ensure unity in pursuing our corporate vision, and ensure that local strategies for pursuing our vision are relevant and legally acceptable. In addition to these Area Overseers who lead our spiritual ministries, the body also brings in members of the Spiritual Advisory Board who may not be Area Overseers, as well as Registered Trustees. In order to make sure that any discussion on finances or projects has good factual backing, the National Financial Secretary and the Chairman of the National Finance Board are required to be in attendance regularly.

Each Area Overseer reports direct to the General Overseership. The Area Overseers Council is the only authorized forum for joint action in administrative / spiritual matters. An Area Council is the highest grouping of local assemblies permitted in the church for administrative and spiritual control. On no account is it permitted for a number of Areas to pool together to form unauthorized or unofficial grouping for governance or joint administrative activities.
